Air Traffic Chaos
Some of you know that I have been working on a game for the past couple weeks. It's a remake of a game that I used to play quite a bit when I was a weeeeee lad. The basic idea is that you have planes flying in and you need to get them to land on the runway. Sounds simple? It gets more difficult as you have more and more planes. I'm releasing the first beta now, so if you'd like to help out with some testing I'd appreciate it. Try it out and give me your feedback about gameplay, the interface, or anything else that you think could be better.
To run the program:
1. You must have the .NET framework installed on your machine. If you aren't sure, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs. If you have the framework installed, you will see an entry titled "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1". If you don't see that, download and install the framework from Microsoft (~ 23MB).
2. Right click this link and save the target to your computer.
3. Find that file you just downloaded and run it. If it runs correctly, another file will appear in that directory called ATC.dll and then the game will pop up.
4. From now on when you want to start the game, just double click that exe that you downloaded.
Notes:
- Every time the game starts, it looks on the web to see if any updates are available. If there are updates, they will be automatically installed for you.
- If you aren't connected to the internet when you start, the game will run with a cached version on your machine. There's nothing wrong with that but every once in a while you may wish to start the game while connected to the Internet in order to receive the updates.
- When you run the game, you will get a popup warning about how the program is running with restricted privileges and might not function properly. Just ignore that warning. I've designed the game to run with those privileges. When we get all the bugs worked out, I'll distribute the game differently and that message will not appear.
- Please feel free to send me any comments you may have. Anything at all. I'd like to hear your feedback and I'll take it into consideration when I decide what features to upgrade.
