Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know that the Olympics are starting up tomorrow. My DVR is already set to record all three channels of HD coverage. I'm not sure how much of it I'll actually watch, but it's fun to get caught up in the excitement.

The New York Times ran a story on Monday that shows the distribution of medals over all the summer Olympic games. It's very interesting to scroll through and see how it changes over time. For example, before 1980, the medals were dominated by North America, Europe, and northern Asia. Since then, South America, Africa, South/East Asia and Australia have won much more. Communist countries also do very well at the Olympics.

The US had the most medals in 2004. Will that continue in 2008? Tune in to find out! Regardless of the medal outcome, it's sure to be one of the more controversial games in history due to it's location.
