Site Tweaks
The good news is that I had unexpected time to work on the website today. The bad news is that it's because I'm sick. I came home at noon and after drugging myself and sleeping for a while, I decided to write some code. That's what everyone does when they are sick, right?
There are three main things to update you on:
- I wrote my own Random Photo widget so hopefully it will no long show video thumbnails. Since those are in the media gallery now, the default widget was picking them sometimes too.
- I wrote the Friends' Posts widget. This widget shows the 10 most recent posts from blogs of friends. If you see one of your posts on here and don't want it included, just let me know. I figure if you're bold enough to put it on the web, you don't care who sees it. Mouse over the link for the domain name of the website it came from along with the first ~200 characters of the post. Click on the link to open up that post in a new window. Expect to see lots of pictures of the children of Ben and Kris, Jay and Juliet, and Mike and Talisha. They do a great job of posting!
- When you make a comment, it should show up automatically within about 15 minutes. There's a new automatic spam filter built into the app and I'm giving it a shot. You'll still have to wait for the page cache to rebuild but it won't require any manual click from me. We'll see how well it filters out real spam.
