StubHub

I've heard a lot about StubHub, but I've never actually used it to buy or sell tickets. Transferring tickets online has always seemed very sketchy to me as there are many holes for scams.

I had an extra ticket to get rid of so I decided to give it a try. The selling process was very simple. I had the option of either shipping directly to the winning bidder or first shipping the tickets to StubHub and letting them deal with the shipping. I set my price on the low end of the range. Thankfully it was general admission so it was easy to sell. It sold in less than 12 hours. I guess I should have asked for a bit more.

Stub Hub takes a 15% commission which is a good chunk of money, but I think it's worth it. As soon as the deal goes through, the seller gives the money to StubHub. StubHub then sends me a prepaid FedEx label to print off with a deadline for me to drop it in the mail.

When I signed up to sell tickets, I had to give them my credit card and I'm responsible for the full fee if the tickets are fake. Seven days after the buyer receives the tickets, StubHub will send me a check, deposit to PayPal, or make a donation to charity in my name.

If you're selling MLB tickets, you don't even have to ship them. You can just enter the ticket number and they will deliver the tickets electronically. It's an MLB-sponsored way to buy/sell tickets.

Kudos to StubHub for protecting both buyers and sellers. The fact that I more than doubled my money doesn't hurt either. Maybe I should do this more often.
