Lego Universe

Without a doubt, the best toys I ever had as a child were Legos. (I know the plural of Lego is Lego, but I always feel like a snob when I say it so I'll knowingly continue in error.) In fact, it led to one of the longest and biggest projects I have ever worked on: the creation of an entire Lego library for PovRay and corresponding movie. It took me two years to complete and 20 days of CPU time to render the movie itself. While the script is horrendous, I'm still very proud of how it turned out. Unfortunately what took me two years to complete in the late 90s is now easily accomplished with free downloads on the web.

Enough reminiscing and horn tooting, I started this post to write about Lego Universe. I've never played a Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO), but I'm going to have to play this one. It's too awesome to pass up. Think of an entire virtual world created of Legos. You control the actions of a single Lego character running around the city and interacting with other people. Luscious.

The official website is still light on details but the gaming sites are posting a few stories. A very early preview video the game is included below.
