Fantasy Football Week 13
It was almost unlucky number 13 for the Patriots. But Bill Belicheck's beat Brian Billick. (I worked hard on that alliteration.) If I was the Baltimore coach who called a timeout milliseconds before Baltimore stopped New England on fourth down, I would have headed straight for my car with an army of security guards. I would not want to be him in the locker room. I wonder if he's related to Steve Bartman?
- Best penalty ever: Bart Scott throwing the yellow penalty flag into the stands. As they showed replay after replay of the touchdown catch, Tim and I were yelling at the TV to show us the flag toss. Priceless.
- After two 15-yard penalties on Bart Scott, the Patriots kicked off from Baltimore's 35 yard line. We were hoping Gostkowski would try to kick it out of the stadium but he lazily kicked it through the uprights. Then to cap it all off, the hail mary pass worked, but they fell three yards short.
- Endzone Dance Award: Tony Romo led the league with 34.16 for Dad's team.
- This Isn't Golf Award: I had the lowest score: 81.96
- Put Me In Coach! Award: Jim gets this for not starting Brian Westbrook who had 25.23 points. I'm runner up for this award. I didn't start two players who scored 23 points.
- Crystal Ball Award: My bench outscored my starting roster, even with Brett Favre's negative points on the bench. No one gets this award.
- Deadbeat Award: I get this for starting Larry Fitzgerald. He was questionable and didn't end up playing.
And so we are into the playoffs. Jim is riding an 8 game winning streak, but Brady has looked beatable the past couple weeks. From the League home page, click Playoffs instead of Standings and you'll see the schedule. Jim and Luke get first round byes. I'll play Tim and Dad plays Ed. Who will be crowned champion of this inaugural season? It's not an easy task. As you get to the end of the season, team strategies start to change. If a team is a lock for the playoffs, they might not start their star players which means bad news for your roster. Good luck!
